After a massive three-year project, Pine Lakes (aka "The Grandaddy") has reopened (March 2009) to great applause in Myrtle Beach. Burroughs and Chapin, the course owners, spent $15 million dollars to restore and renovate the course for 21st century golfers. The course is now the first in the Grand Strand to use Paspalum grass, which can be irrigated with salt water instead of fresh water. The clubhouse also now features a new 6000-square-foot wing to house the pro shop, locker rooms, pub, kitchen, and patio.
